Terrington Hall’s U13 hockey team has retained the cup at Durham School’s U13 hockey tournament having won the event for the second year running.
The team’s season has been the second best on record having won eight matches, conceded two and coming second to a strong St Olave’s side in Pocklington’s U13 hockey tournament, only narrowly losing the final 1-0.
At Durham, the team came up against tough competition, but secured victories against Durham Choristers (1-0), Durham School (1-0) and Cundall Manor (2-0). They drew against Durham High and lost their final match to Red House (0-2).
Terrington Hall headmaster and U13 hockey coach Stephen Mulryne said: ‘It is a testament to the quality of the opposition then that when the results were read out we had come out on top. All of the other schools had lost at least two of their games so the draw against Durham High turned out to be the deciding factor. I was as delighted as the girls were to receive their winners’ medals and to see the trophy return to Terrington for another year.’
Three members of Terrington Hall’s hockey team have been awarded sports scholarships to their senior schools: Amelia Blackburn (Millfield), Anna Barker (Queen Margaret’s) and Coco Charters (The Mount).
