Cutting Edge Performance at Bootham School
A cutting edge art and drama event will be opening its doors to the public at Bootham School on Thursday, 29th and Friday 30th November. Simon Benson, Head of drama at the leading independent school, described it as “Not your usual school production.” He went on to explain, “Titled ‘4 Storeys’ it’s a collaboration between the art and drama departments and one of the UK’s leading contemporary performance companies, Imitating the Dog. Using texts, images, video, choreography and fine art, 4 Storeys is a devised piece exploring, amongst other things, a house, childhood memories, lost innocence, beauty and decay.
All the material for the production has been produced by our GCSE and A-level art and drama students. Guided and encouraged by the team from Imitating the Dog, its focus is on creating a rich visual and aural texture, through which stories are told. 4 Storeys is an exciting new venture exploring the wider possibilities for drama, art and performance at Bootham School in anticipation of our new, Bootham Arts Centre which will open next year.”
