The children of Year 7 (12 years old) at Queen Mary’s School at Topcliffe are in the final rehearsals for the musical tale of gambling and redemption set in the 1920s which will be performed on Tuesday 29 and Thursday 31May.
Taking on the major roles are Phoebe Legard as gambler Sky Masterson and Alice Robinson as Sarah Brown of the Save-A-Soul Mission. Anna Sowray will play Miss Adelaide and Olivia Murray is Nathan Detroit. Well-known songs from the show include “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ The Boat”.
The production is being directed by teacher Victoria Charmer, aided by a dedicated team of helpers. She said: “This is a really high energy musical with lots of great roles which has given all the girls a great opportunity to shine.”
