It is traditional to carry the statue of Mary in procession, to honour her rather like athletes or football players are cheered on. We pray part of the Rosary and ask Our Lady for her prayers and her protection. She is Mother of the Church and we gather as her children.
As autumn approaches and the evenings begin to draw in, we turn to Mary and ask her to pray for us to Jesus who is Light of the World. Our candles in their lanterns are a sign of our faith, which brings us the light of hope. As the Year of Faith begins, we ask Our Lady to lead us ever closer to Christ her Son and we entrust ourselves and our families to her Motherly care.
