On Thursday 7th November a mixed group of our choristers went to Castle Howard to sing at the Christmas Fayre in aid of the NSPCC. The NSPCC Christmas Fair has been run for a number of years at Castle Howard and raises in excess of £30,000 each year.
Our choir were positioned in the Minstrels’ Gallery in the House’s magnificent Great Hall and those shopping down below told us how clearly the words and music travelled.
The children sang a mixture of sacred and secular music. Particular favourites were ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ and ‘Good King Wenceslas. Gabriel Laird sang a new setting of ‘In the Bleak Mid-Winter’ which gave the other singers a welcome break.
