St Martin’s Ampleforth Orchard Visit
As part of their topic on “Food” Year 1 and 2 from St. Martin’s Ampleforth Prep School had a fascinating visit to the Ampleforth Orchard to watch the apple harvest and see the apples being pressed into juice. Cameron, from the Orchard, explained to the children the difference between cooking apples and eating apples and showed the equipment used to press the fruit.
After some time collecting windfalls, the children gave their haul to Cameron, the fruit was then pressed to make apple juice. “Delicious” was the verdict from all the pupils “better than supermarket juice.”
