The girls of Queen Mary’s School, accompanied by some rather ambitious teachers, embarked on what seemed like an impossible task; to play tennis non-stop for 24 hours! The challenge was set in order to raise money for the Outdoor Education department to develop their outdoor classroom as it plays such a vital role in life at the school. With participants joining during throughout the 24 hour period, including the headmistress, Sandra Lewis-Beckett, who came bearing hot chocolate and marshmallows to warm the girls as they played through the wind and the rain!
Led by Miss Charmer and Miss Mooney, a combination of current girls, teaching staff, old girls, parents and staff members achieved this mammoth task and were overjoyed at the support shown. The total raised is yet to be collated but there is no doubting whether it is deserved! Congratulations to all who took part!
