A York school pupil is Borneo-bound after being sponsored to get on her bike by a firm of local solicitors.
Quality Solicitors Burn & Company, in Nether Poppleton, sponsored 15-year-old Suzannah Nellis, from Skewsby, to complete a 25-mile fundraising cycle ride at a rate of £10 per mile.
The Mount School student completed the ride and added the £250 to her fund for a trip of a lifetime to Borneo in summer 2014, where she will help with conservation work and in the building of a school.
Claire Rutter, director and solicitor at Quality Solicitors Burn & Company, said:
We have known Suzannah’s mum, Fiona, for a long time and when she told us about Suzannah’s devotion to her fundraising mission we were glad to help.
It is always good to support young people who are out to change the world for the better.
Over the past two years Suzannah has raised nearly £4,000 for the four-week trip, which she will embark upon with pupils from Ryedale School, which she used to attend.
Miss Nellis said:
I’m very grateful for Quality Solicitors Burn & Company for their kind sponsorship. In total my sponsored cycle ride in the North Yorkshire countryside raised £400 for my trip.
